    🍋 Peach Lemonade

This homemade lemonade features a deliciously sweet homemade peach syrup that adds such a pop of flavor and color to this summery drink.

    🧂 Ingredients You Need

We are going to keep this as simple as possible with a handful of easy to find ingredients.

    You will need:

    • Fresh peaches: if it's not peach season you can get away with canned peaches, although this will make the drink a lot more sweet as they are usually canned in a sugar syrup
    • Lemons
    • Sugar: I use plain white sugar, but you could use a sweetener alternative if preferred
    • Vanilla extract
    • Fresh mint: this will be used in the peach syrup and for garnishing when serving the drink
    • Soda water: if you will not be serving this straight away then you can use fresh mineral water instead, as it can be hard to keep the bubbles in soda water if the drink is not stored correctly.

Make sure you have an extra peach on hand for serving to make it look even more pretty.

📋 How To Make Peach Lemonade

Don't worry, this delicious drink is super easy to make.

Start by making your peach syrup.

To do this simply add the peaches, one of the lemons, water, sugar, mint, and vanilla to a large point and bring to a simmering boil.

Once it hits the boil, reduce the heat to the lowest setting and let the mixture bubble away for about 25-30 minutes.

At this point, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool completely before straining through a fine mesh sieve into a large container. Juice the second lemon and add the lemon juice to the mixture, stirring well to combine.

Now you have your peach syrup ready for whenever you are!

Once you feel like sipping on some peachy goodness, simply add about 3 tablespoons of the peach syrup to a glass, along with some ice and soda water. Top with some fresh peach slices, and a sprig of mint for a delicious sip of summer.

    💭 Important Teaching Tips

Allow the peach syrup to cool in the fridge completely before adding it to the ice and soda water.

The syrup can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for at least a month.

It also freezes well, just be sure to freeze in a container with some extra space in it, as the liquid will expand as it freezes.

    🥢 Useful Products

To make sure you have homemade peach lemonade on hand all year round, even when peaches aren't in season, freeze leftover peach syrup in large ice cube trays

I use the cheap silicone varieties from Kmart (here in Aus they are about $1.75) and the freeze the perfect amount for individual glasses of peach lemonade.

    🍽  Serving Suggestions

Serve peach lemonade cold with ice cubes, thin slices of fresh peach, and a sprig of fresh mint.

You could also get creative and add some frozen raspberries, or thin slices of fresh lemon depending on what you have on hand.

This can also be sent in small juice boxes for a refreshing treat during the school day. I add ice to make sure it stays nice and cold and send it along with some Deli Style Macaroni Pasta Salad With Egg, a Bakery Style Lemon Poppy Seed Muffin, and some chopped fruit for the ultimate summertime lunch.

    👪 Frequently Asked Questions

    Can I freeze peach syrup?

Yes, peach syrup can be frozen in freezer-friendly containers for up to 6 months. I like to freeze in large ice cube containers so it is easier to just take what you need from the freezer instead of having to take a big batch all at once.
